| | HISTORY: Charles Blackford developed the original REAS CAMA system for the Town of East Hartford for their IBM mainframe. As computer technology and hardware evolved, Charles re-engineered the system and converted it to CICS where on-line updates and pricing could be easily done. The system has been used in several New Jersey and Connecticut districts for revaluation and day-to-day maintenance.
Charles developed the REAS workstation version in 1987 when SLH Technology, Inc. was incorporated in the State of New Jersey. As driven by the customer's requirements to reduce data processing costs, a PC-DOS based version was developed using Btrieve for record access and written in Microsoft C. Since then, he upgraded the system to a graphical user interface (GUI) and SQL 2000/2005. The current version is written in Microsoft C++ and consists of over 250,000 lines of code. The system is constantly evolving as new functionality is requested and as Microsoft changes their development platforms. REAS CAMA is currently being migrated to C#/.Net.
